How reminiscent that was of Lily breaking down in in front of Russ because she couldn’t handle a management task in Elizabeth’s absence. He helped her sort it. Harrison made soothing noises. It makes me wonder whether she does have what it would take, in addition to her degree in estate management, to run the estate/business should Freddie fail. Are we going to get a dramatic reversal of our expectations with Freddie the supremo and Lily a flop?

Lily was very competent taking care of Elizabeth, she's just overwhelmed by seeing it coming again. Freddie is capable too and together they could run the place as a team, leaving Elizabeth to become Vince's full time carer.

Chelsea could do a first aid course, and to carry all the material with her.

Chelsea should have a first aid box on her van anyway. and being able to use its contents efficiently would clearly make sense.

Well surprise, surprise! We have got our wheelchair character at long last!

Yes ARCHERPHILE- I thought of Miriam immediately as getting what she has wished for for such a long time.
    A disabled person SL.

    I’ve said this before …….. I think Miriam is a Mole !
She has her fingers in the pie of team TA
She really is the most prescient amongst us.

  3. There's a caveat though, he MAY not be able to walk again, as Maryellen wrote, she may have to have a separate category for that.

  4. Very appropriate photo KP, well done! Wish drivers in Sainsbury's car park would take notice of it though!

  5. The TA header for 20 October (when Vince was trapped under the tree) ended: "and will history repeat itself for David?" That puzzled me until my renamed list, Fatal and Near Fatal Accidents in The Archers, revealed that in 1987 Jethro Larkin, Clarrie's father who worked for Brookfield, was killed by a falling tree being felled by David Archer.
If I'm right, it suggests that today's scriptwriters do indeed consult the programme's archives.

  6. Thanks for the apt illustration, KP! That symbol has attracted quite a bit of flak from (a) groups who feel it is too passive and have produced their own alternative designs showing a super-charged wheelchair occupant in mid-sprint, and (b) from disability groups who say it is not truly representative, eg. sign language users from the Deaf Community who argue that they are not physically disabled as the wheelchair suggests, but a linguistic minority.

  7. History repeating itself for David for me meant taking care of Elizabeth after Nigel's fall, dealing with admin and trying various passwords to break into his computer when E suggested tiddles and it worked. He was also there on the roof with Nigel, who had previously said "David you saved my life" when he helped him find some lost heirloom for E. David replied "I wouldn't put it that strongly".

As for Vince I suppose there will be talk of sex when disabled, I just hope they handle it better than with Lynda and Robert.

To me Lily sounds even more like a little girl and Harrison like a grandfather.

    1. I so agree about Lily, Basia. She sounds so babyish and not at all like a 20-something woman taking charge of LL and able to represent Elizabeth. The actress(tor) needs to age her voice somewhat. Shouldn't be impossible for a good actor.

    2. That’s an interesting interpretation of the header, Basia. I suppose the answer to the question is no, because this time Elizabeth has two adult children to do for her what David did when Nigel died. And although Vince may be physically incapacitated, he sounds mentally capable of running his life and business with the necessary help. Time for the twins to come into their own.

    3. I once came across an article in a speech therapy journal about women with baby voices - a psychological reaction to their relationship with their fathers, apparently. Given Lily’s penchant for older men, could there be something in this?

  8. As I heard it there was not a definitive you will never walk again.
This leads me onto whether therapy, rehab etc. will able Vince to slowly start to become mobile again. This might take months.

  9. Someone remind me.
In 2025, in I think a podcast, the editor + a writer talked about that there was an ongoing story-line starting which would go onto January 2027. At that time there were many thoughts as to what this would be.
Here we are in October 2026 and all I can think of is the development of Freddie, leading up to his finally inheriting LL.
Does anyone else remember this, or is it just a figment of my imagination?

    1. I remember the discussion. At the time I thought it might be to do with Henry and the discovery of his father, but the plot hasn’t taken that direction so now I think it’s to do with George’s progress from tearaway to family man.

    2. You're probably so right again.
Henry is still far too young as he won't be 18yrs until 2029. Only then can he find the info. about his sperm donor. I hope I'm still here to know how this happens and what he finds out.

    3. Some information (not name) will be available to Helen when Henry turns 16 next January.

    4. Tell more as to what this info.will be. I'm intrigued.

    5. I know at 16yrs Henry can do one of those genetic tests in his own right, so might find half siblings from his sperm donor.
Would TA address this so soon - I'm not sure.
