Re your hedgehog house - not to diminish Mr CCs efforts - but have just seen a wicker one on the Crocus website and wondered how similar to yours it is.

He used instructions from the British Hedgehog Preservation Society's website to make it MrsP.
He does a lot of woodwork including furniture, so it's a pretty sturdy construction.

They are similar in construction but made with different materials.
The Crocus one is also ‘ whimsy stylish ‘ ( my expression )
I would so love to have a hedgehog, but even if one visited it would not be safe with Lady, who once had to have a HH forcibly removed from her mouth. ( but not by me, she was staying with a friend overnight on a rural caravan site overrun with hogs )

I used an old wicker log basket that had seen better days to make one once. Sadly a couple of years ago something must have happened to the mother as she vanished and by the time we realised four of the babies were in the nest dead and the two who had come outside the nest were too weak and ill to save although we tried our best.

    Oh that’s very sad Janice.

When we lived in Malmesbury we had a very old boundary hedge down one side of our garden and we had so many hogs. I would walk the paths of my garden late in the evening to hear them snorting at each other.
Unfortunately a family with a large dog moved into a nearby house and the dog decimated our hogs in one season.
I was overwhelmed with grief when I found them on so many mornings.

  3. We’re having our patio enlarged, so far the workmen have hit the water pipe twice, hopefully worth it in the long run.
