maryellenMarch 10, 2026 at 12:41 PM I think Chris’s hesitation about Alice and Rex’s fledgling affair could be more to do with his relationship with Martha than his relationship with Alice. How might it change when she gets another Daddy figure in her life? Will she play new Daddy off against old Daddy, for instance?

AmbridgesMrsPMarch 10, 2026 at 1:08 PM She might well do so ME, as some children do, but if so that will have to be managed, along with all the other consequences that happen as a result of a marital separation.
So far Chris and Alice are doing pretty well at co parenting.

maryellenMarch 10, 2026 at 2:09 PM True, Mrs P, although its success has depended a lot on Chris’s unflagging availability when Alice was doing her own thing, plus having Susan and Neil as backup. Susan’s role in Martha’s very early development shouldn’t be forgotten as she did much of her parenting.

MiriamMarch 10, 2026 at 4:05 PM Martha was fine being with Chris + Carly when they were together. I think she'll be fine with Rex being in Alice's life. Chris will always be her Daddy, whoever Alice + Chris end up with. The reason being that they co-parent and always will, and this would only change if one of them moves away. Rosie play's Toby against Pip, but that's a completely different set-up.
BasiaMarch 10, 2026 at 7:26 PM Now we know what the passing car was for. George is only worried about his image and it brings on his aggressive side. Josh doesn't want a party nor attention drawn to himself, what for, to celebrate his departure? I just heard of micro-dramas - just a few minutes - sounds like cliff hangers from the Archers, it seems that our attention span has narrowed.

maryellenMarch 10, 2026 at 8:05 PM I like Reg It would be good if he moved to Ambridge. Will we find out who turned George in? I predict Lillian or Tracy. They’ve both got mean streaks!
BasiaMarch 10, 2026 at 8:31 PM Brian or Ruairi because they hold it against George for having something on them. The others might think that George has already got what he deserved.

AmbridgesMrsPMarch 10, 2026 at 9:34 PM I’m simply delighted to hear of an antisocial activity that has bothered me throughout my life, being brought to the attention of the public by such a programme as TA. Men who consider it perfectly reasonable to relieve their bladders whenever and wherever they may be has always disgusted me. I shall be interested to see how this plays out.
I agree MrsP, did they choose George, to test him to the limit? My sister lives in a street full of late night bars and they had to tell off some women who entered their courtyard for the same reason, here in France, I guess men don't look for shelter.
There have been times during a long moorland walk with only bracken for cover when I and my fellow walkers have unknowingly broken the law by relieving ourselves not far from the footpath we were following. We tried to avoid potential embarrassment by stationing ourselves near the footpath to warn any approaching hikers and staring in the opposite direction to the one taken by the one of us in extremis, or just being precautionary. I wonder now if the law would have considered us guilty.
Maryellen - you will not have been alone in needing to relieve yourself on a long hike. Others will have done the same out of necessity, including me.
It is the antisocial activity of urination in an urban situation, usually but not always by men, that is under discussion. It’s possible that by introducing the subject on TA that it might become a national conversation. I do hope so.
I followed a man + Labrador at a service station, assuming he was going on the dog walk. Actually he was thinking of himself and not the dog, and we got mutually embarrassed!
I hadn’t heard of these “sobriety tags” before, apparently they were introduced back in 2020. It seems a reasonable option, George’s anger issues certainly aren’t under control yet & he is unpleasant when drunk. My opinion of Amber has steadily improved recently, pointing out that she’s not drinking & suggesting he’s not drinking to support her was really smart.
Yes, but George should not be hiding behind Amber. If/when he owns up the family will be alerted to two things: that urinating in public is an offence and that someone still has it in for him. Btw - I met a man who in sympathy with his pregnant wife allowed himself to grow too!
Rex was with Eddie + George when "wee-gate" happened. Has he taken the idea from Chris, who might well have told him about reporting the NYE drunken behaviour. It all links to their joint feelings for Alice.
I thought it would have been whoever was in the car that beeped him who reported him. The headlights would have illuminated him so the driver would know who it was. I wonder if George in his drunk state would have registered the make of the car.
George didn’t’t sound drunk to me, just suffering from the diuretic effects of a quantity of Grundy cider, He’s never been a problem drinker. New Year’s Eve was due to exceptional circumstances made worse by Chris Carter. My theory is that Reg, bless him, homed in on the presence of alcohol on. these two occasions, in order to adopt the least punitive approach to George’s transgression.
I like Miriam’s theory that the driver only honked as a warning to get out of the way but wouldn’t that leave only Will and Rex as witnesses and therefore possible complainants?

ReplyDeleteYes, but Chris did it before George was attacked, whoever did it now feels that George deserves more, is Rex so vindictive and malicious?
DeleteIt was just a thought and just a way of supporting Alice as Rex is with her + so no different to Chris.
DeleteI thought it would have been whoever was in the car that beeped him who reported him. The headlights would have illuminated him so the driver would know who it was. I wonder if George in his drunk state would have registered the make of the car.
ReplyDeleteI just thought the car was going too fast and nearly bumped into him.
DeleteAnother wrong thought! 🫣
I re-listened to the end of Sunday nights episode + based my thoughts on that, the main one being the car was going too fast to see much.

Sorry, should be Eddie not Will. In last sentenc.
DeleteI thought the same about George not sounding drunk, comparing him to NYE when he could hardly walk + was slurring his speech.
